IT’S IN YOUR BLOOD
To encourage people in Australia to join the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry “Strength to Give” initiative
YOU COULD BEGIN SAVING LIVES TODAY
If you are of Polynesian heritage – New Zealand Maori, Fijian, Samoan, Tongan, or come from the Cook Islands, Tuvalu, or any other Pacific Island nation, sign up to the donor registry, you can make a vital difference to the lives of Leukaemia sufferers from those backgrounds.
Our target is males 18-30 years of age, as young men often weigh more, they literally have more to give.
However, all potential donors are welcomed, and ethnic diversity is critical as most patients are more likely to find a match with a donor from the same ethnic background.
HOW IT WORKS
Every forty minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer, and for many, a blood cell transplant is their only hope. Registering involves a simple mouth swab test that takes just a few minutes and that’s it. Should you end up as a match you’ll end up being contacted and have the choice to go ahead as a donor or not. Just registering increases the chances of someone finding a life-saving match.
